Improvise Freely

Yesterday was such a wonderful day.

I have no idea why, since Monday is notoriously rocky.

Nevertheless, I had a sunny disposition. Likely tied to the weather which was also sunny for a change. I think my soul is just so relieved to see the sun and feel it's warmth after so many days of colder than usual temperatures. Don't get me wrong, I love a rainy day. Love. It. It appeals to the introvert in me. There's nothing I like better than pulling myself into my shell and quietly observing the soft patter of rain from behind a book. Or sewing machine. Or easel.

But it was Monday.

I was relieved to find my appointment book full of clients who needed beautifying and I was one of them. But I didn't beautify myself. I leave that to the other professionals. Cause there's nothing worse than thinking you can do your own hair; I don't care how long you've been a hairstylist.

This is probably another clue to my good mood. Every woman has more spring in her step on a day she knows she has a hair appointment! {Can I get a witness?!}

As if just having maintenance on my hair was not enough, I decided to pump it up a notch and do something I've been wanting to do for awhile.

My inspiration is Victoria Mackenzie-Childs
Now, I would love to have the guts and presence to carry off rainbow colored hair, but my lifestyle (conservative town, clientele, etc.) does not support it. Bah. Maybe one day I won't care at all, but until that day comes, I'll stick to just purple.
I'm sure I'll add other colors to the mix along and along, but I'll always leave most of my hair in the mix.
I think.
Today, anyway...

I'm Not One to Offer Fashion Advice, but....

I wish I could wear camisoles by themselves and look like this.

But I don't like sharing that much of my self with everyone and their brother. For me, the purpose of a camisole is to help add a layer of concealment to a dress or top that plunges a bit too deeply or to simply add a pop of color under my clothing. Problem is, by the time I put clothing on top of a camisole, it has disappeared. Look how low that cami is! And it doesn't even meet her pants! What's the point?!

So, I've been on a hunt to find a cami better suited to my needs and I'm here to tell you it can't be found in the mainstream retail outlets.

One of my friends put a bug in my ear and told me to check out Modbe. I found a wonderful selection of camisoles that were modest in not only appearance, but also price.

Then I searched for "modest camisoles" and came up with these sweet camisoles. These are the ones I actually ordered so I will let you know if they are the end all be all of the camisole world.

Now...isn't this better?

Some of these particular camis are on sale at shade!

I smell a shopping spree!!

It's A Fashion Fiesta!

Big Mama is having a Fashion Fiesta.

Now, this is a "keepin' it real" fashion show.

Which means I won't be showing you my imaginary strappy pumps and funky platform shoes that I rarely wear. (You'd probably rather I would after seeing my wrinkled offerings...)

I wondered why I couldn't find any of my clothes and then went rummaging through the dirty clothes.

That explains this lovely t-shirt and skirt combo:

Another day, another version. This is one of my favorite skirts. It has a layered hankerchief hem. Please notice the bleach spots on the bottom of my shirt. Lovely. I'm a hairstylist, so at some point all of my clothes end up with color/bleach polka-dots.
I love graphic tees. (Can't tell can you?) They go with everything. Especially the classic t-shirt/jean combo.

Ah. My favortite t-shirt. It speaks truth to me. My favorite shoes. My other motto is: Life's short. Wear funky shoes.

Well, there you go.
I know your life has been enriched by this post.
Glad to be of service.
