Exploring New Facets of Creativity

Sometimes, I wander through the internet looking for quotes. The ones that always catch my eye are graphics like this.

I've always wondered how people create these cool bits and pieces and thought I would ever in a million years be able to make something like that since I have absolutely no background or knowledge if graphic design.

Enter my new favorite person in the while wide world: Rhonna

The story goes like this:
I was scrolling through Instagram one morning and came across a lovely graphic with the cutest font I have ever seen. I fell fast and hard and asked the person who posted it if she knew the name of the font. She didn't, but told me it was an app called "Rhonna".
Well, I hustled on over to iTunes and found it! After installing the app, (first time I have EVER paid for an app!) and a little digging, I discover that my new favorite font was included and called "Clean and Clear". I immediately had to try my hand at creating something...

Isn't that font the best?!

I am in heaven.

I'm excited about the new facet of creativity that I can explore through this app!

What would you make with it?

Yarden Bounty

This weekend my husband took a stroll through our yard and this was the result. While others with more decorating savvy would have pulled out the cut crystal vases; hubby, always resourceful, pulled old drink bottles and small bowls from the cupboard. (Perhaps this also speaks to the fact that there are NO cut crystal bowls in the house?) So this week, as I've fixed lunches and grabbed dishes from the cupboard to piece together meals, I've caught the gentle fragrance of roses wafting up.

It somehow adds a bit of gentility to our otherwise helter-skelter lives.

Media Cabinet Revival

Wow.

Two--NOT one, but TWO remarkable things have happened today.

One. I figured out how to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer. ALL.BY.MYSELF.

Please hold your applause....

Because you will be amazed to hear that I finished, yes FINISHED a project.

I know. I know.

What? You don't believe me?

I got pictures.

Check it:

Media cabinet--Before:
(Definitely in need of a revival. No?)
Cardboard squares cut to size.
Fabric cut to cover cardboard.
Glued fabric to cardboard with decoupage glue.
Inserted into picture openings.
Cuteness...

How bout them apples?!

Rainbow Leaves

I'm sure I've posted this photo before, but it's one of my favorites and the advantage of this being my blog is that I can post whatever I want. Again.

Gerbera Daisy

Started playing with editing this daisy and began to realize the possibilities are literally endless!

My Girl

I'm hurting for posts these days and my laptop is preoccupied with my hubby who has been working on a project. Said laptop is also getting on up there in age as evidenced in how slowly she's been moving of late. I feel fortunate that she found it in herself to give me this picture...

Feeding the Artistic Funkiness...

This past weekend we jaunted down to Savannah to the Pinnacle Art Gallery (a SCAD gallery) to see a small exhibit of Nick Cave's Soundsuits. Two soundsuits were featured. Here is the first with close up details to follow....

These round pieces remind me of patchwork quilts.

Playing with PS

I was up before the rest of the family this morning. I thought about doing a post on "savoring solitude". Of course, I wanted to add a photo to illustrate my post so I went into my archives. I found a photo of an adirondack chair.

Then I started playing....

Well, that was not at all where I began with this post, but it led to a bit of artistic serendipity!

Signs of Growth

Didn't find these in a Robin's nest, but these Robin eggs are tasty. Surely this is a sign that spring is here.
The scene as I drive around town. Makes me a Sunday driver. And I thought people were honking to be friendly...

Wacky friends "sprout" up.

Everything is growing and I do mean everything. Funny how losing something means you're growing...

All this growing is exhausting. I think I'll park it here...

I Can't Get Enough...

...Of the beautiful fall leaves. I'm pretty far south
and don't usually get to see
much in the way
of brilliantly colored fall leaves.

My favorite has been
the vine (Virginia Creeper? Poison Oak?)
climbing the pine tree.
It positively glows when
the sun hits it.

Even in it's waning,
I love these
Cotton Rose blossoms.

They would make
gorgeous ruffly
ball gowns for
a fairy...

My Technicolor World

The rosy rising of the sun starts the whole show...

Fall has fallen.

It's obvious when you look at the ground covered
with golden leaves glowing in the sun.

Primary colored leaves
litter the grass

Crimson vines trail up the trees.
The sun lights their fiery colors

It's FALL ya'll!
